Brunch Review: New York Deli

We started 2016 where pretty much where we ended 2015, at New York Deli. I had a friend in town that we took there for dinner, only to return for brunch the next day. She might think New York Deli is the only restaurant in Richmond, but I'm okay with that.

New York Deli is a great place to brunch because they do breakfast everyday. Plus, their menu is baller, however questionably not up to date because what I ordered does not appear to be included. New York Deli was a dream come true for New Year's Day, as it's a nice walk away to clear the sleepies out of my eyes but not long enough that my slightly hungover self can't make it. Plus, my resolution this year to questionably eat better, but it's not competition time yet so I'm in the clear.

Food Review: River City Food Tours

Last weekend, Cazey and I had the pleasure of being tourists in our own city. We were invited to try the Carytown Food and History Tour, hosted by River City Food Tours. Our booking was last Saturday at 2PM on a perfect autumn afternoon, until the sun went down and it got a little chilly. The email reminder told us to bring a positive attitude, water, walking shoes, and to dress appropriately. Apparently we’re not good at following directions because we neglected to bring water and wear enough clothing once the sun went down a bit.

My first pro tip would be to follow the professional advice and bring water and a jacket. The water is crucial, as you’ll taste a lot of food and not every restaurant provides water.

One of the first places I ever brunched in Richmond was 3 Monkeys. We selected it for brunch only because we had drank there the night before. We gathered ourselves, neighbors and friends to try out the brunch scene.

When we went that first time, we ordered 4 different mimosa pitchers for the entire table in various flavors. Turned out, only me and a few people were planning on drinking. Before you knew it, we were all a pitcher in, and then I offered to dog sit and decided to take the dog home with me. Then I passed out for most of the day. It was a good day.
