RVA Brunch Weekend

Richmond Brunch Weekend

September 9 & 10, 2023

Join us for the sixth annual RVA Brunch Weekend as we come together to support our local restaurants and this year’s charity benefactor, the Richmond SPCA! To participate, all you have to do is enjoy brunch at one (or more) of our participating restaurants on September 9 & 10. Our restaurant partners will then donate a portion of proceeds to the Richmond SPCA. Restaurants are incredibly generous to participate, so please be nice, tip well, smile and leave an additional donation of any size for the Richmond SPCA!

History of Richmond Brunch Weekend

Sara Woznicki and Cazey Willams of As Told Over Brunch, launched Richmond Brunch Weekend to celebrate the culture of the brunch scene in Richmond, which was a large inspiration for our blog. We soon teamed up with the Massey Alliance to raise over $90,000 for cancer research at VCU Massey Cancer Center over the course of four years. In our first year back after a two-year pandemic hiatus, we raise $13,589 for the Richmond SPCA in 2022 and are excited to partner with them again this year.

About the Richmond SPCA

After getting a rescue dog during the pandemic, Sara couldn’t help but want to raise money to help other animals in need, and there’s no better organization to partner with to do so than with the Richmond SPCA. The Richmond SPCA is an independent nonprofit, no-kill humane society in Richmond, Virginia.

The Richmond SPCA saves the lives of about 4,000 homeless dogs, cats, kittens and puppies each year by transferring them into our care primarily from shelters all over Virginia where their lives are at risk without us. The SPCA also provides extensive veterinary medical treatment and behavioral rehabilitation to the vast majority of the dogs and cats in their shelter because they often have significant veterinary medical issues and/or behavioral challenges.

The Richmond SPCA also operates our community’s first and only full-service, low-cost veterinary hospital for the pets of people of modest means. The organization also offers a free behavior helpline and resource library that provide guardians advice, training guidance and support that allows them to keep their pets and not relinquish them to a shelter. We encourage you to learn more about the Richmond SPCA.
