As Told Over Postbellum Brunch

Postbellum has a long-standing place in my heart because of their support of the Massey Alliance. Not only have they participated for years in Richmond Brunch Weekend, but they’re also a prime spot for a post-Monument 10k brunch AND they are super accommodating when the Massey Alliance wants to host our executive committee meetings there.

There’s a lot else to love about Postbellum too for those who are not swayed solely by their charitable leaning toward local cancer research. They have a nicely renovated downstairs with private dining areas and a great city-garden rooftop that’s perfect for some mimosas.

Postbellum’s brunch menu features a smattering of options from appetizers to breakfast options like omelettes, hashes and steak and eggs. Plus, they have lunch options including salads, sandwiches and flatbreads.

A few years ago after running the 10k to raise money for VCU Massey Cancer Center, Cazey and I got our post-race brunch at Postbellum. I ordered the chicken biscuit with pimento cheese. My only compliant is I was a hungry gal from trying to run 6+ miles and wanted it to be bigger, but the sandwich was quite tasty!

Bacon Omelette

Unsurprisingly, Cazey ordered an eggs-based dish and tried one of their omelettes with a side of grits. Check out that oozing center!

Our post 10k brunch wasn’t the first time we brunched at Postbellum for a Massey event either. Like a true service nightmare, we hosted 16 people at Postbellum for an earlier Richmond Brunch Weekend. They were able to handle us like true service professionals and made sure to keep the mimosas for Massey flowing.

Sausage Hash

That day, I ordered the hash, which comes with eggs, potatoes, onions, peppers and scallions. You can select either the sausage, brisket or kimchi to dress up the hash too.

If you want to be like me (well, that might not be a ringing endorsement) and check out Postbellum, head there March 21 + 22 for Richmond Brunch Weekend! If you’re planning to roll in with 16 people (or really, a party of any size) like we did MAKE A RESERVATION and say thank you for their superior service and their willingness to give back to VCU Massey Cancer Center all weekend long!
