As Told Over Brunch is a home for intelligent discourse from the twenty-something perspective - so the stuff you gossip about over mimosas on Sunday morning or over takeout on your friend's couch when happy hour ends too early. We love chatting about our lives, whether it be the relationships we’re building (or destroying), lessons we've learned at work, struggles at school, growing pains we've felt, or even the food we’re talking over.

I have had several friends brunch here in the past, including Sara, and all had delivered rave anecdotes. I had been meaning to try it, too, especially since Matchbox has participated in Richmond Brunch Weekend for the last two years.
Thankfully, last weekend I got to check out their menu with Sara. Even better, we got to try out their newest menu – a bottomless brunch they’ve labeled the “Brunchbox.” Our special invitation came with a caveat: we had to be filmed for a promo Matchbox was shooting. Because of this, we didn’t get a lot of great photos we took. Instead, we had to take bites of the food for the camera before we could snap our own. For that reason, we’re using photos taken by local food photographer Deb Lindsey.

Cazey and I ventured over to 2018 participant, Saison Market, to test out their brunch. Typically I like to read menus top-to-bottom, back-to-front prior to arrival. However, this time I went in cold without knowing what their brunch menu held.
When Cazey and I entered, we filed into a little storefront with a big chalkboard. He quickly passed me a brunch menu, which I then panicked and skimmed while the cashier waited for my decision. Cazey picked out the breakfast burrito with bacon, which is what I wanted, but with sausage ($7+$2 for bacon). He also added potato hash ($2).
Read MoreLast Sunday Sara and I had the opportunity to experience Little Saint, the newest offering from the owner of Max’s on Broad, Tarrant’s Café, and Tarrant’s West. This past week was Little Saint’s soft opening (and proceeds went to support VCU Massey Cancer Center; you know we had to give that plug). We’re so glad we made it in, because this place is going to be hopping once they fling wide their doors.
Little Saint is a deliberate departure from the upscale aesthetic of the Max’s and Tarrant’s family, and it’s reflected both in the setting and the pricing. Think lots of sunlight, hanging plants, and sun tea basking in the windows. This joint promises to be the new mecca of social media influencers. Just look at my own Instagram from this past week.

I'm guest-blogging for Sara and Cazey in the name of Cancer Research and the upcoming Richmond Brunch Weekend, which I’m super, super (SUPER) excited about!
Brunch is my thanggg, as I'm one of those people who 100% ascribes to that whole "mimosas made me do it" thing as a kickoff for Sunday Funday (Saturdays too, really). I’m also one of those people who considers most of life’s everyday events to be a grand adventure: “Let’s go on adventure to the grocery store!," “Let’s go on adventure to clean my car!," “Let’s go on an adventure to check my mail!” ...I wonder how many of my friends have wanted to kill me at one point or another?
Today’s brunch-day was no exception and, in fact, ended up being more along the lines of what might more generally be considered adventurous.
