Recently my best friend got engaged. They met overseas, so I didn't get to meet her fiancé until after he actually proposed - though I knew the ring was coming (because she believed it was coming) and I Facebook friended the guy before they were even official.

Upon meeting her betrothed, he asked how we knew each other. "From college?" he guessed. (I was slightly offended my friend hadn't briefed her beloved further.)

"No, no, we go all the way back to kindergarten," we relived our friendship. "In third grade we ran against each other for SCA secretary. Neither of us won."

Over the last couple of weeks, I've had some interactions with friends that I think were less than appreciated. I mean, I wouldn't appreciate them. In most circumstances I'm either not sure what I was thinking or I just wasn't thinking, period. Or I was drunk. Either way, I decided I should share these incidents so readers can avoid repeating my prat falls.

The first happened at dinner with my friend. We had finished eating when the waitress came over and asked if she could get us anything else. Maybe it was the pizza, maybe it was the rum and diet, but I said, "Sure, could I get coke?"

Let me first preface this whole essay by saying that I am married. That's precisely why I'm writing this guest post. Single girlfriends, please get out there and meet these boys and quickly report back to me with all of the deets!

I love myself a good "let me tell you about the guy I just met" story shared amongst girlfriends. This experience is even more enhanced when you happen to be surrounded by mountains of brunch food – or any type of food if we're being honest. It's a safe and sacred time and place. Who doesn't love girl talk when you can simultaneously chow down on some eggs benedict and fries?

Throwback Thursday: That Time Cazey and Sara Went on a Valentine's Day Date

February 14: Single's Awareness Day, also known as Valentine's Day for those in a relationship. Most of those people who are single feel themselves falling into the 'Single's Awareness Day,' but not me. No -- I encouraged/forced my blog's baby daddy to take me on a date. A real, legit date.

Why? Because I deserve it, and we both deserve a day dedicated to our best friendship.

I encouraged Cazey to take the stereotypical male role and asked him to make us a reservation in advance (forethought proves he cares), pick me up at my doorstep with flowers in hand and pay for my meal. He complied with almost half, which sounds about average for what I may expect from a normal male date, so I'll take it.

Cazey attempted to make reservations at the location we selected together (after Cazey took the lead and made some suggestions), but they didn't take reservations, so we planned to leave early so we could get right in. A plan, several weeks in advance - quite a commitment.
