Coffee and a Conversation
As Told Over Brunch is a home for intelligent discourse from the twenty-something perspective - so the stuff you gossip about over mimosas on Sunday morning or over takeout on your friend's couch when happy hour ends too early. We love chatting about our lives, whether it be the relationships we’re building (or destroying), lessons we've learned at work, struggles at school, growing pains we've felt, or even the food we’re talking over.
When I moved from Connecticut to James Madison University, there were a few foods I really, really missed. As in, I was almost as homesick for certain foods as my family. But now, I too can appreciate some Southern food.
Sometimes in my dream world, we live in a world where my Northern favorites can co-mingle with my Southern favorites. If that world existed, it would feature the following delicacies:
Read MoreThis past weekend I went to MiKro. MiKro is a craft beer bar and bistro located in Hamden Connecticut. MiKro consists of an average size bar with a handful of tables. Initially when I walked into Mikro, first through a door, then through a curtain, I realized it was quite dark, which I was not expecting for a Sunday morning. However once I adjusted, I noticed it had a somewhat rustic and cozy atmosphere.
Every Sunday from 11:30 to 2 they have a special brunch menu. Items on this brunch menu include; French toast, hash, croque madame, chilaquiles, MiKro benedict, shrimp and grits, sausage biscuits, kale chop salad, and a MiKro burger. However this menu varies from week to week with some of it’s dishes.

If there is one brunch review that's been a long time coming, it's the review for Urban Farmhouse Market and Cafe. Why, you might ask? Because that iconic (can I say anything about our own blog is iconic? Probably not, but anyways) image in the header of our entire blog is from Urban Farmhouse (see below -- well and above).
We should probably begin this review with the reason we selected Urban Farmhouse for our blog launch (and subsequent blog image). Cazey frequents Urban Farmhouse often due to its proximity to other locations he goes, so he suggested it because it's well-lit and there are couches and outlets, which makes it a good place to post up for a while and work. The trip for our blog re-launch was my first time, and I was definitely impressed. It really was a wonderful place to hang out for a while, as they had a free water stand with lemon (love that I don't have to ask anyone for refills) and there were a ton of windows, making it a really picturesque area to sit.
