As Told Over Brunch is a home for intelligent discourse from the twenty-something perspective - so the stuff you gossip about over mimosas on Sunday morning or over takeout on your friend's couch when happy hour ends too early. We love chatting about our lives, whether it be the relationships we’re building (or destroying), lessons we've learned at work, struggles at school, growing pains we've felt, or even the food we’re talking over.
I had been to Helen’s many times for late night PBRs but had not checked out their famed brunch prior to this meal. It was a packed house at Helen’s when we arrived Sunday morning. We put our name on the waiting list and then snagged a seat outside on Helen’s front porch. Surrounded by hanging plants and Richmonders drinking mimosas and bloody marys, the cozy outside space made the wait feel brief and well worth it for a delicious brunch!

Not only have they participated for years in Richmond Brunch Weekend, but they’re also a prime spot for a post Monument 10k brunch AND they are super accommodating for when the Massey Alliance wants to host our executive committee meetings there.
There’s a lot else to love about Postbellum too for those who are not swayed solely by their charitable leaning toward local cancer research. They have a nicely renovated downstairs with private dining areas and a great city-garden rooftop that’s perfect for some mimosas.
Read MoreA few months ago, I saw a picture on Instagram of Hobnob's pimento cheese BLT. It looked amazing, dripping in soft, melty pimento cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado on sourdough. Then I forgot about it in the chaos of life and the entire summer went by.
For reasons that I don't understand, the vision of this pimento cheese sandwich came back into my head this week and I began to obsess over a sandwich I've never had (again). The only reasonable thing a gal can do in a situation like this is GO GET THE SANDWICH.

Then we got to Weezies and said, "hell no," when we saw the line and crowd. We decided to then head west like our ancestors (just kidding, my ancestors didn't head west, nor do I actually know if we were heading west), and thought maybe we'd see if Water Coastal has brunch.
As we headed in that direction, our roommate Liz, who will eventually be featured in a blog post entitled "Living with Liz," said, "I've always wanted to go there!" And pointed to a corner restaurant with a patio. So, we went to the corner restaurant.
Read MoreWe started 2016 where pretty much where we ended 2015, at New York Deli. I had a friend in town that we took there for dinner, only to return for brunch the next day. She might think New York Deli is the only restaurant in Richmond, but I'm okay with that.
New York Deli is a great place to brunch because they do breakfast everyday. Plus, their menu is baller, however questionably not up to date because what I ordered does not appear to be included. New York Deli was a dream come true for New Year's Day, as it's a nice walk away to clear the sleepies out of my eyes but not long enough that my slightly hungover self can't make it. Plus, my resolution this year to questionably eat better, but it's not competition time yet so I'm in the clear.
